Dallas Cowboys ~ Texas Rangers ~ Fantasy Football ~ Pray for South Texas

South Texas

Please pray for the entire region of South Texas!

If you've watched any news channels... CNN, Fox News, MSNBC... they're all showing rescues, volunteers working all day to get people out of their homes, and prepare for more rain to come.

I'm shocked at what I'm seeing. I am sad. My heart breaks for anyone there. I can't imagine feeling stuck. Especially with waters rising.

The fellow Texans and neighbors that showed up with their fishing boats and any flotation devices to help get people out of their homes is amazing!! While sitting in the comfort of my dry home in Dallas, I've watched footage all evening and am just amazed that so many people showed up to help save people! It's a humbling act to watch. I am so thankful for those individuals and pray they are all able to get to safety after the long day they've had.

Watch this short video of a newscaster who discovers an American flag. It is moving.

There are so many ways to donate, since so many of us feel helpless.

In Dallas, they posted on the news about a drop off location for donations off Arapaho and the North Dallas Tollway

"The Trusted World drop off location will be 15660 N. Dallas Parkway. The donations center will be open daily 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., until further notice. Residents can also call 211 for information on donations.

They are asking for clothing in good condition, toiletries and hygiene products, and non-perishable foods."

The Salvation Army is another great organization that is quick to respond!! 1-800-Sal-Army (725-2769).

Also, J.J. Watt, and other Houston Texans players set up a funding page for them to donate to local organization and use to help with the rebuilding of the city. Here is the link for J.J. Watt's page

But more than anything, PRAY!!

GO RANGERS!!! 64-66
11th in the AL (American League)
4th in the AL West (15 games behind the Houston Astros)

Seems silly to talk about sports, with a hurricane/tropical storm going on.

But, there is still a baseball season to be played.

The Rangers are now 3 games back in the Wild Card race, after getting swept by the Oakland A's. We really need to win these games against Houston, as hard as that is to say right now.

The Rangers were planning on flying to Houston to start a 3 game series on Tuesday. As of now, the Astros will be flying to Dallas, and most likely will play the series in Arlington. I can only assume how heavy the hearts of the players are with their families and loved ones back in Houston. Hopefully we do everything possible to make them feel at home in Dallas and get their families reunited with them.

I believe Jon Daniels and the Astros leadership will be making decisions over the next day or so to figure out the best plan.

Who do we need to step up? These dudes are batting less than .215... Odor, Napoli, Gallo. If our pitching can't get us there, we need these guys to get on base and not get thrown out sliding into third!!!

On a Brighter Note...

The Little League World Series was on this past weekend. And all week, MLB did cool things to support the association between the LLWS and the MLB!!

Last weekend, there was an actual MLB game played between the Pittsburg Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals in a minor league park. It was called the MLB Little League Classic

Such a fun event!! The MLB players were able to attend the LLWS during the day and sit with players, watch games, buy ice cream for the kids! Then the kids filled the stands that night for the MLB game! So stinking cool!!

For those MLB players who weren't able to play in this game, the MLB had them wear colorful/youthful jerseys all week with their childhood nickname on the back. There is also a patch on their arm where the players could write "Thank You" notes to past coaches, parents, teammates, anyone who impacted their career. Once again, so cool! It was called MLB Players Weekend. Checkout cool photos

So, if you were wondering why baseball looked bright this week/end, it was seen through the eyes of a child.

GO COWBOYS!!!
Football in Texas!

If the preseason counted, we'd be 3-1. I'll take it!!

Similar to the Houston Astros, the Dallas Cowboys were planning to travel to Houston for our last preseason game this Thursday night. All Houston Texans players are already at Dallas hotels. Feeling the same way the Astros players probably do. Watching the news and knowing that loved ones are down in Houston. Once again, I'm asking y'all to pray for this storm to dissipate!! Not so football can be played, but so these families can be reunited!

Since football will be played at some point... here are three things to note.

1. Cooper Rush. Dude, where did you come from? Here are 10 things to know. Witten called him a young Romo. He was 12 of 13 passing, with 115 yards, 2 TD's (touchdowns) and had a passer rating of 143.1 in the game vs. Oakland. Ummmm yeah. I'll take that for a backup! But I'm not ready for merry-go-round QB's again. So I need Dak in place for a little bit, then Rush can have his time to shine, in 5 years. #aaronrodgers #what?

2. Our Defense dwindled over the off-season. Guys got dealt left and right. But, we built ourselves back up, only to have 3 starters injured. The latest injury, Anthony Hitchens. His knee injury will sit him out of games for 8-10 weeks. Good news, if we can make it to November, we will get all of these guys back and make a great run in the Playoffs! That's what the NY Giants did in 2007! Injured all year, dudes got healthy at the end, and they run-ruled all teams to end up beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl. We've got this!

3. Drew Pearson. Y'all. Remember his powerful message to Eagles fans at the NFL draft this year? The greatest thing you've ever seen!! Made me jump off my couch!! Nice gesture by the NFL, they sent him a framed pic of him making his passionate pick! Check it out! And here's the video if you've forgotten this spectacular moment! Here is Jerry and teams reaction to the pick. If this doesn't get you ready for football... nothing will!!

Here is the rest of the schedule. GO COWBOYS!!!

Random Info:
Fantasy Football!!!

Yahoo gave me a B rating! Ha! Like they know anything...

My secret was to get the no-name running back on the Washington Redskins and watch him become a super star. Then, my Redskins loving Uncle and Cousin will be begging me for him mid-season. That's when I'll do my dealing.

Until then. I'll take my B and raise you a Minnesota defense, that did NOTHING tonight. C'mon man!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Week 11: Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Mavs ~ Gift Guide for Black Friday

GO COWBOYS!!! 8-1 1st in the NFL (I've died and gone to Heaven) 1st in the NFC EAST Sunday, November 20th Baltimore Ravens vs. Dallas Cowboys  (home team is second) 12:00 PM CST on CBS First things first... the Cowboys are playing amazing football right now! Even sportscasters who don't like the Cowboys can't stop talking about them.  I mentioned last week that we are the most balanced team in the league. When your Offense and Defense share an even amount of time on the field, it is easier to stay fresh and productive. If you leave your D out there too long, they're bound to make mistakes. So even with our Offense being as productive as they are, they are still staying on the field long enough to keep it balanced.  The Cowboys have a total of 219 first downs this season and lead the league at Offensive time of possession, 33:39 minutes ( an NFL football game is made up of 4 quarters, 15 minutes each, a total of 60 minutes ).  ...

POSTSEASON BASEBALL: Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers ~ Baseball Etiquette ~ Dallas Cowboys Over-reaction Tuesday

GO RANGERS !!! ALDS PLAYOFFS - THIS THURSDAY It's official... we are playing the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.  Dang it.  I can't stand the Blue Jays. They have trashy fans. No, literally, they throw trash on the field .  And Jose Bautista is a punk. No one needs your bat flippin' drama!  And we all remember this... Odor punching Bautista earlier this year. Watch . All the sports people are going to have a field day over this. I bet they wish they had given us the evening time slots now! Except that Toronto's TV ratings don't count, eh?  How we win... stay focused. Eliminate the drama. We beat them during the regular season. We can do it again. No hitting batters, no one getting ejected. We need our entire roster in the ALCS. We need to play Texas Ranger baseball. Period. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Games 1 and 2 are this Thursday at 3:30 PM and Friday at Noon in Arlington, TX. Games 3 and 4 are Sunday and Monday in Toronto. ...
