Texas Rangers ~ MLB All-Star Weekend ~ Cowboys ~ Healthy Burger

GO RANGERS!!! 43-45
9th in the AL (American League)
3rd in the AL West (16 games behind the Houston Astros)

What is going on with the Rangers????

We need pitching.

Almost every guy on our team is batting .250 or higher... this is a good thing! We have 133 Home Runs for the first half of the season, 3rd in the league.

Sure, we could always use more offense, but when our guys are consistently putting up 5 or more runs, even in losses, you've gotta get some help from your bullpen (the bullpen is where the pitchers warm-up during games, usually in the outfield).

Yu Darvish is still our most "productive" pitcher. He's been healthy most of the season, and has 125 strikeouts. But why am I still not sold on this guy? Maybe because his ERA is 3.49, and maybe because he's allowed 93 guys to hit off of him, second most to Martin Perez.

I'm not an expert here, but Darvish was selected for the All-Star Game, which is this Tuesday night. But, he pulled out of the All-Star Game, because he pitched in Sunday's game vs. the Angels and is now 6-8. Interesting.

Trades will be made during the All-Star break. Fingers crossed we get more pitching!!

p.s. Cole Hamels has a mustache. It looks like a younger version of Tom Selleck.

New Player on the Team..

Drew Robinson... who is this kid? Four games with the Rangers and he has two home runs!! That's the way to make an impression! His batting average is .273 and has 3 RBI's (Runs Batted In - means 3 guys scored because of his hit).

What all can Robinson do? Read this quick article. He's a great pick up with all of the injuries we have going on.

After the Rangers rest during the break... here are the teams we'll face in the second half.

MLB All-Star Game
Half-time for Baseball...

The best part of All-Star weekend is the Home Run Derby.

Most people think Aaron Judge will win for the AL, and Giancarlo Stanton will win for the NL. Stanton won last year, and this year the HR Derby is in his home park... in Miami! (Did you just think of the Will Smith song? Me too). My money is on Judge! The Yankee.

The All-Star game is cute, and usually is competitive. The winner used to get home field advantage during the World Series. For example, if the American League won, and the Rangers went to the World Series, we would start the first two games at Home.

In 2017, they changed the rules for home field advantage. It will go to the winner of the League with the highest at Home winning record. Boring.

When is the Home Run Derby?
Monday, July 10th, 7 PM CST

GO COWBOYS!!!

Do you see what I am writing??? Football news??? Oh yeah.

Training camp officially starts in two weeks, July 22nd in Oxnard, CA! I'm so excited!!

We officially signed every rookie we drafted in April!! We have a Secondary!! How good are they? We'll see soon enough!

We kick off our season with a "friendly" vs. the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, August 3rd in Canton, OH. Hall of Fame Weekend. Where Jerry Jones will be inducted, and is wife will be his introducer. Good times.

Our first Pre-season game is on Saturday, August 12th vs. the Los Angeles Rams, 8 PM CST.

One sad note, David Irving, Offensive Tackle (OT), the guy you saw up in every defenders grill in 2016, is suspended for the first four games of the regular season for "performance enhancing drugs" - this stinks! I hope he's as good off the drugs as he was on them! C'mon man!

And here's a good article on top players for this season. Don't worry, Dak and Zeke made the list. Read on

More to come... Get your popcorn ready!

Random Info:
Y'all. Life is about changes, right?

One day, you're going along, and all the sudden, you're allergic to gluten. Ha!

No seriously. It's a real thing. I've joked about it for a while, but now it's gotten personal. It's a real deal to have Hashimoto's thyroid disease and this whole gluten allergy thing.

But, I've found a fun way to make food!! Yes, even without gluten!

One of the restaurants we have in Dallas serves amazing dishes that are mostly gluten free and semi-paleo. I decided to make my own dish at home.

Ingredients:
Grass fed ground beef
1/2 sweet potato
Fresh Spinach
1 egg
1/4 avocado
Avocado Oil
salt/pepper
Cholula

Directions:

1. Grate the sweet potato using a cheese grater. Place avocado oil in small pan on medium heat. Add sweet potatoes and sauté for a few minutes.
2. Cook beef patty on grill to your liking (I used my William Sonoma grill, but I live in an apt).
3. While the burger is cooking, add spinach to the sweet potato hash, drizzle a little more avocado oil, if needed, cover with lid and turn on low. Stir occasionally until fully cooked.
4. Use small pan (or same pan after you've finished the sweet potato hash), and cook a fried egg, or scrambled.
5. Slice fresh avocado.
6. Place burger on a plate. Cover with sweet potato and spinach hash. Place fried egg on top of hash. Place avocado on top of the egg. Drizzle Cholula if you like spice, or you can add mustard or hot sauce. If you are simple, pink Himalayan salt and a peppercorn grinder will do just fine!

ENJOY!

POSTSEASON BASEBALL: Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers ~ Baseball Etiquette ~ Dallas Cowboys Over-reaction Tuesday

GO RANGERS !!! ALDS PLAYOFFS - THIS THURSDAY It's official... we are playing the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.  Dang it.  I can't stand the Blue Jays. They have trashy fans. No, literally, they throw trash on the field .  And Jose Bautista is a punk. No one needs your bat flippin' drama!  And we all remember this... Odor punching Bautista earlier this year. Watch . All the sports people are going to have a field day over this. I bet they wish they had given us the evening time slots now! Except that Toronto's TV ratings don't count, eh?  How we win... stay focused. Eliminate the drama. We beat them during the regular season. We can do it again. No hitting batters, no one getting ejected. We need our entire roster in the ALCS. We need to play Texas Ranger baseball. Period. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Games 1 and 2 are this Thursday at 3:30 PM and Friday at Noon in Arlington, TX. Games 3 and 4 are Sunday and Monday in Toronto. ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Week 2: New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ UNT beat Arkansas ~ Scooter Magruder

GO Cowboys!!! 0-1 (wins ~ losses) New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys ( away team ~ home team ) Sunday, September 16 @ 7:20 PM CST on NBC If you watched the game last week, where we lost to the Carolina Panthers, you have most likely decided to stop watching the rest of the season. It was a rough game. And it makes a lot of people think that first string players should get more reps during pre-season games so your Week 1 game isn't a scrimmage. So, during the " scrimmage ," that was a regular season game, Dak matched Cam Newton ( Carolina's QB ) in passing yards and was pretty close in accuracy. So where did Carolina win? Aside from wearing out our Defense... Newton had 13 carries for 58 rushing yards, allowing him to score one of their two TD's ( touchdowns ). Zeke ( our RB, running back ) had 15 carries for 69 rushing yards and one TD. Carolina out played us in the run game because they're not afraid to allow their QB to run. They converted more 1st ...
