GO RANGERS!!! 50-54
11th in the AL (American League)
11th in the AL (American League)
4th in the AL West (18 games behind the Houston Astros)
We didn't get the Win. But, Adrian Beltre had his 3,000 hit, and Pudge Rodriguez went into the MLB Hall of Fame. Pretty good day to be a Texas Rangers fan!
Adrian Beltre is 38 years old. It's an accomplishment to be playing at 38, Tom Brady knows this, but to play and be as competitive as he is, it is fun to watch!
These athletes are paid a lot of money to entertain people. And when you see someone playing because they love the game so much and they want to win for their team as badly as Beltre does, it somehow makes it all even more enjoyable to watch.
We all spend our money on a lot of things: movies, bowling, food, concerts, etc. I choose to spend mine on sporting events. ha! I feel like it's far better than reality TV. It's live sports!! The only thing better is watching my nieces and nephews play.
And today I definitely teared up when Beltre hit his 3,000 hit! I got to be at the game Friday night with my parents and my Uncle, who flew into town just for that game! We saw Beltre get to 2,998! And the Rangers won!! It was a fun game!!
Saturday night, I last minute decided to go with a friend, it's too hot in Texas to be outside, but we had to see if he made it to 3k that night. With over 44k fans in the stands, and a playoff type atmosphere, we watched #29 hit his 2,999 hit on July 29th! Yelling and cheering loudly, the fans went crazy! But still one shy of 3k!
So, my parents and I had our season tickets for Sunday as well, and despite how tired we were from the weekend, we made it out there in the scorching heat (aloe has been applied multiple times), and we saw it. 3,000! I cried. Not a lot, just a tear or two, as his kids ran up and hugged him, and as the Orioles players shook his hand. My friend that was with us helped me play it off as sweat dripping down my face.
Way to go Adrian Beltre! I may never meet you, as many of us fans won't, but we're glad you are a Texas Ranger and we've been able to watch you play for the past 7 years! We know you wanted to win a World Series when you came here; I hope we get one before you retire!
Side Note... We saw Craig Gentry play Sunday for the Orioles, in Right Field. My best friend loved watching him play! This guy started in 2006, in Single A. He finally made it to the majors in 2009, with the Texas Rangers. It looks like 2012 is the only year he played the entire season in the Majors, he batted .304 that season. He's gone back and forth between the Majors and the Minors his entire career. And today, he got to watch a guy do something that only 31 other players in all of the years that baseball has been played do. It's is not easy, but it sure is awesome when it happens!
I just want to say... Congratulations to all of the players in baseball who are working hard to make it to the level they've dream of! It looks like an exhausting grind, but from the position of a fan, it's fun to support y'all and see your hard work pay off!
Pudge's hard work paid off on Sunday, as he was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. Watch this link to see clips from all 5 HOF speeches.
We grew up watching Pudge play, and all of us wanted to be #7 because of him. He was the catcher for a lot of pitchers, but the one you'll know most is Nolan Ryan. I'm pretty sure we tried to pretend we were Pudge when we would practice for softball. Well, we pretended we were any Rangers player. Both of my sisters were good ball players, I cheered them on and did the best I could.
TRADE DEADLINE: Monday, July 31st at 3:00 PM CST. We thought Jonathan Lucroy would be on the move again, and he is, after today's game. He's going to the Colorado Rockies. That will be fun! The weather is beautiful there! But we're not sure who we get for him. The whole point of a trade 2/3 into a season is to help your team win a World Series title. I hope we deal Yu Darvish and het two or three prospects for him.
Here is the rest of the Rangers schedule for this week. We may get rain and cooler weather, aka low 90's and high 80's. Go to a game!! Take the whole family and cheer on the Rangers! We're still semi-alive for the Wild Card, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Random Info:
I love my family!
I am so thankful for them and love every minute I get to be with them!
My niece, sister and Mom made me a fruit cake for my birthday. Random health stuff going on right now and it was so thoughtful and cute! My parents, sisters, brothers (in laws), nieces and nephews make my life so rich! I thank God for them every day! They are the hardest working people I know and the kindest. I'm glad I am related to each one of them!
