Week 13: Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings ~ NFC East ~ NFL logo quiz

GO COWBOYS!!! 10-1
1st in the NFL
1st in the NFC EAST
Thursday, December 1st
7:25 PM CST on NBC

We've NEVER won 10 consecutive games. Ever.

We lost our first game of the season to the New York Giants, by one point. And oddly enough, they are still the ghost we're trying to run away from and secure our playoff spot with only 5 Regular Season games left.

Here is what the NFC East looks like going into Week 13...

The Minnesota Vikings... what should we fear?

The Vikings are in the NFC North Division. They currently trail the Detroit Lions for a spot in the playoffs. They have only won 1 of their last 5 games, which makes this Thursday night, showtime game, a must win for the Vikings!

4-1 at home, The Vikings meet the Cowboys who are 5-0 on the road. Oh how I love those odds! Forever in our favor this season.

Quarterback situation. Sam Bradford is the starting QB for the Vikings. A guy they got in the offseason from the Philadelphia Eagles. And a guy they are glad they traded for, even with a 6-5 record.

You see, the Minnesota Vikings have a pretty decent Defense. They rank 2nd in the NFC with fewest points allowed by opponents, 192. Ownership didn't want to waste their Defense this year and not at least contend on the Offensive side of the ball.

In steps Bradford. The guy from OU, who played a few times for the St. Louis Rams (before the LA move), then for the Eagles, and now in Minnesota. He's thrown for over 2,400 yards, 71.3% completion percentage, 12 TD's (touchdowns) and only 3 interceptions. His offensive weapons include Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. They don't have much of a run game; their leading RB (running back), Jerick McKinnon, only has 316 yards and 1 TD.

How 'bout them Cowboys...

Y'all... Dak Prescott (our QB) has thrown for over 2,800 yards, 18 TD's and only 2 INT's (interceptions). I mean come on y'all... this guy is a rookie!

Ezekiel Elliott (aka: Zeke) has rushed for 1,199 yards (Cowboys record) and has 11 TD's, with 5 games left in the regular season.

We know we have it made on Offense. And I haven't even mentioned how selfless Dez Bryant has been as of late. I think even he's gotten the message that it's about the TEAM. Watching players, like Romo, put the team first must humble a guy who is still a starting WR and has a big role on this team. Even if that role is attracting double coverage.

Team Chemistry is something I think it is easier to notice in Baseball and sometimes basketball. The New York Yankees may have won 27 World Series titles, but how many of those teams had great chemistry? Probably a few, but most of those teams are known for being more business-like.

Here in Texas, we like to win the old fashioned way. Like playing catch in the front yard and then taking it to the big stage. The Texas Rangers, haven't won a WS title yet, but man are they fun to watch, especially in the postseason... well maybe not this year, or last. But you get the point.

When the Mavs won the big dance in 2011... that was a great season!! :) The year we kept Tyson Chandler. Y'all know I wanted us to keep that kid. Oh well... another Mark Cuban decision I disagree with.

And now... the Dallas Cowboys. The past 4 years we've drafted better than ever! My assumption is Stephen Jones has taken over quite a bit in that realm. Not getting the hottest player, Johnny Manziel, but taking Travis Frederick in the first round in 2013 to make sure we had the best Offensive Center. Not a highly promoted position for fans, but the dude is amazing!! And every year since we've made great choices.

No one, not even Jerry Jones could have predicted this season.

Which makes it all the more special.

Unexpected things in life are fun. And sometimes mean more when you realize you aren't really in control. Ever.

Back to Thursday night's game...

We've managed to beat the Pittsburg Steelers Defense, the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Redskins back to back.

So, we ain't scared of no #2 Defense in the NFC!

Penalties.

The Cowboys have given their best effort to not make mistakes. We may not have the best Defense. But with the time we have on the field, we are not making too many costly mistakes. We rank second, behind the Vikings, in fewest penalties and penalty yards this season.

And can I just say... God Bless Byron Jones. I love watching that kid jump up and block passes like he's in the NBA!!! So fun!! He's also on the Ben and Skin show every Tuesday afternoon.

We will win this game. For all those fans who freeze it out in MN this Thursday, I hope you cheer loudly for Dem Boyz! (I know you're in a Dome, but still, it's cold there).

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
