Week 6: Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers ~ Texas Rangers Can't Talk About It ~ Clean Eating and Exercise

GO COWBOYS!!! 4-1
1st in the NFC EAST
Sunday, October 16th
Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers (home team is second)
3:25 PM CST on FOX

So, last week we looked ahead... and now we're here...

We play the Green Bay Packers, in Lambeau Field.

The Cowboys are 4-1.

What? 4-1. Yup.

What is missing?

~ No Romo.
~ No Dez.
~ Broken O-line.
~ Underrated Defense.
~ Dan Bailey's back is sore (he's our kicker who is 99% accurate from 0-62 yards)

What do we have going for us?

~ An O-line (Offensive Line, guys who protect the QB) who is making it work and persevering through injuries!
~ A Defense, who is not only getting their job done on the line, but with our secondary breaking up more plays this year than all of last season. They have also helped this offense stay balanced with an even amount of time on the field. Controlling the clock on both sides of the ball is a huge advantage in the game of football. Or any sport.
~ A rookie QB, Dak Prescott, who is putting in the study time with Romo and the coaches to be the best QB we've seen, besides Romo, in years, maybe even decades! He plays smart and seems to genuinely want to do a good job and help this team win. He has alraedy helped this offense complete 120 first downs (15% more than our opponents combined), 31 third downs (24% more than our opponents combined), and we've gone for 2 fourth downs and made both of them. Confidence.

"Hope is the only thing stronger than fear" ~ Hunger Games (ha - yes, I posted that in there, it's the only quotable line from those movies)

~ A rookie RB (running back) who has kept his head in the game long enough to rush/run for over 130 yards in the past 3 games. He leads the entire NFL in rushing yards, 546. I told y'all I wanted this guy years ago. Nice to see it finally happen! #stayfocused

TRIVIA QUESTION: Who has the second most rushing yards this season in the NFL? (I just told you Ezekiel Elliott is first).

What can the Cowboys do vs. Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers?

For starters, Aaron Rodgers isn't playing like himself. His pass completion percentage is at 56.1% this season, compared to his career average at 64.8%. His QB Rating is at 87.7 this season vs. his career average at 103.6.

He's not off by a lot, but it's just enough to where they don't look as solid and confident as they have in the past. Now, don't get me wrong, I still drafted Rodgers in one of my fantasy leagues. He's still one of the top five QB's in the league. Except these rookies... man... they have changed things up this year!

Feels like college ball meets NFL. Like Saturday rolled into Sunday and these NFL veteran dudes are trying to figure out what to do with these young guys.

Rodgers still has a decent WR (wide receiver corps), ranked 8th in the league, but their run game is lacking. They have a total of 448 rushing yards on the season (all RB's combined)!! Where as our one running back has over 500 rushing yards alone. Rodgers isn't getting any help from the run game, and his O-Line breaks down quickly, which causes him to scramble and get into situations where he has to throw the ball. Danger, Danger, Warning, Warning... this is how interceptions happen. He's thrown 3 interceptions to Dak Prescott's 0 INT's. #statsmatter

Who will win this game?

Of course I want Dallas to win! Who doesn't?? But I actually think they will win.

24-14

Green Bay's D (D=defense) has only allowed and average of 42.75 rushing yards per game. Not good for Elliott, they may succeed in slowing him down... but they have allowed 275 passing yards per game... advantage Prescott (QB), Butler (WR), Williams (WR), Beasley (WR), and Witten (TE). Combined we have 1209 passing yards on the season. Pretty sure we can continue that trend in Lambeau Field!

GO COWBOYS!!!

**Trivia Question Answer: DeMarco Murray, he has rushed for 461 yards with the Tennessee Titians this season. He was with the Cowboys in 2014 when we went 12-4 and made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2009. The Cowboys released him after that season and we went 4-12 in 2015.**

Fun Fact: The Dallas Cowboys have sold more jersey sales this season than they did all of 2015. I wonder what % of sales Prescott and Elliott get from this??

NEXT WEEK (7)... we have a BYE.

GO RANGERS!!!

I don't want to talk about it.

It hasn't been a full week.

Give me a month.

My one thought that is torn between frustration and sadness is...

The Rangers are so much better than that!

Collectively, they are better than the Blue Jays.

But I guess slow and steady doesn't win the race. Hot pitching and batting in October, leading into the Wild Card Game, seemed to get the job done.

If you want to read about trader rumors, contracts they're picking up, etc... check out this article. They're talking about it. I'm not.

GO CUBS! May as well see History take place!

Random Info:
If any of you want to do a clean eating challenge before the Holiday's come around... here's a free two week list of food to eat and things to drink, thanks to Buzzfeed

I've made the spinach, coconut water, banana, almond butter, vanilla smoothie every morning this week. Not gonna lie... I don't mind it! Now if you're working out, you need a little snack more than what they tell you to eat, but you're still staying around 1500 calories a day or less. Not too shabby!

Also, if you're stuck at home or traveling and you need a workout idea... you can do yoga and then incorporate some of these exercises from the Tone It Up girls. #tiu

If you can go to the gym, have a trainer, or do classes... the accountability is GREAT to have!!

But the at home option is a good place to start. Once you get started, you'll want to keep going.

Be good stewards of your body! Not just to look good, but to live well and be fully present in this life we have.

People love you and want you to be healthy...

Hug someone!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
