COWBOYS
Pre-season football is officially on the clock!
The Cowboys have played two pre-season games and Dak Prescott has impressed the Cowboys and just about everyone in the NFL. He was the 37th pick in the 4th round of this years NFL Draft, coming out of Mississippi State. My favorite part of this is my friends who are MSU fans now have to cheer for the Cowboys!!
***We've had injury plagued seasons for the past 5 years... or more, and it seems like Jason Garrett (Cowboys Head Coach) and his staff are getting smarter about mixing the first and second string players during pre-season games.***
Prescott started the first game of pre-season vs. the Los Angeles Rams, completing 10-12 passes for 139 yards and 2 TD's. One of which was to Dez Bryant. Yes, he's back and feeling great from his foot injury that kept him out of most of the year last year.
Romo started the second pre-season game vs. Miami and completed 4 of 5 passes for 49 yards. Two of those passes went to Jason Witten. This is a tandem we've seen for years and I hope to see a lot more of this year. Witten always plays through the pain and at least appears to be healthy, even when he's not.
What did Dak Prescott do in the second pre-season game?? He put up even more ridiculous numbers!!
12-15 passes completed
199 passing yards
2 passing TD's
3 carries for 28 yards rushing
2 rushing TD's
The most impressive piece to his game is the work that he is putting in during the week and studying the plays.
Romo has learned he can sit back during pre-season and take a few snaps here and there, without getting beat up before the season starts. He has enough repertoire with the team to help teach Dak, Kellen Moore, and Jameill Showers. All back-up QB's.
It's all football from here on out. And playoff baseball. I'm aware that Hockey starts somewhere in October. The Dallas Stars are going to be great again this year, so I'll do my best folks.

GO RANGERS!!! 73-52
1st in AL (With our win tonight, we're 0.5 games ahead of Cleveland)
3rd in MLB (6 games behind Chicago Cubs in 1st)
There are 37 games left in the season.
If you thought JD was done with trades for the year... he's not. We just got Carlos Gomez from the Houston Astros. The guy is hitting .210, with only 5 home runs in 85 games... but the Rangers were willing to give him a chance to play Left Field.
Gomez said he chose to come to the Rangers, partially because we're in the race for the pennant (who wouldn't want to play here), and because Carlos Beltran is like a father figure to him. Beltran put in a good word for him with ownership.
I'm not sure I'm sold on this deal. I mean, when you play with great players, they usually make you better. Lucroy has already done that for our entire bullpen. However, we bring a dude in that's hitting .210 in the same league?? I guess I should be glad the Rangers have a hitters park? We have 22 games left at home. I say he hits in 20 of those 22 games.
Jonathan Lucroy... that guy is crazy!!! Here's a quick article about him staying in TX long-term. I hope so!! We would be crazy not to sign him to a long-term deal! Since being with the Rangers, he has had 53 At Bats (AB), 14 Hits (H), 7 Home Runs (HR) and 14 Runs Batted In (RBI). Not bad for a guy switching from the National League to the American League mid-season, after 10 years in one system.

We're only 13 days away from COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!!
I am so excited!! Saturday mornings with College Gameday, french toast and my windows open... I LOVE FALL!!! And football, of course.
p.s. the weather in TX this week looks amazing. Low 90's every day. Which is great for those who don't know what kind of heat we deal with here.
