GO RANGERS!!! 55-54
3rd in AL West - .505, 4 games behind Houston Astros, 3 games behind LA Angels
We're just over .500!!!! Making a slow, but steady comeback! We Swept the Astros, won 2-3 against the San Francisco Giants and broke even against the Yankees. We lost last night to the Seattle Mariners, with our Nelson Cruz, but have pulled out a big W today 11-3 in the 11th inning. (see, we do have an Offense)
The Rangers scored 8 runs in the 11th inning... check this out... quite the opposite of the 21-5 loss I went to vs. the Yankees.
Last night was the second start of Cole Hamels, the pitcher we recently acquired from the Phillies. He hasn't had the best outings, but hopefully our guys and our bullpen can help him feel comfortable and our offense can keep giving him leads!
Nap is back!!! The Rangers season is somewhat random, yet subtle. Today was Napoli's first game back in Texas. Crazy thing is, we need a new catcher (Chris Gimenez did great today), not really a First Baseman (we have Mitch Moreland and Prince Fielder if we need him)... but we love Nap, he did great here, and we'll gladly take him back, no matter where he plays!
Once I heard we were trying to acquire Mike Napoli again, I started thing about all of the trades/transactions this past year. How many other guys can we have back? ha! We already have Hamilton and now Napoli. Not sure Kinsler would come back, but I'd take David Murphy back in a heartbeat!! I doubt Nelly would return with his 32 home runs in Seattle. I bet Craig Gentry would come back!! The Oakland A's bumped him down to Triple A when they activated Coco Crisp (always makes me want cereal, I love cereal)!
Either way... we're shockingly in a great position for the last two months of our regular season! The last regular season game is on Sunday, October 4th. I know it's hot, but go to an evening game!! There's typically a breeze after the sun goes down!

GO COWBOYS!!!
Injury report...
~ WR, Dez Bryant is starting to sound like Miles Austin... not a good thing. Stretch! Stretch! Save your hamstrings (as I'm sitting here with swelling under my knee wondering what I did wrong at the gym). I'm sure Dez will be fine; he better be with how much we're paying him!!
~ CB, Brandon Carr (cornerback) has to have surgery for his broken right hand. This is the same surgery that DeMarco Murray had at the end of last season, in which he played 6 days after surgery. Why did we let him go again?
Training camp...
There are a lot of great things that have come out of training camp...
1. Byron Jones. I don't care what he does, but I'm a fan!!! This is the kid from the Combine that set records and has crazy athletic talent!! Place him anywhere on Defense or Special Teams and he will rise to the occasion!
2. Our Offensive Line is more amazing than it was last year. We signed a new guy on Friday, an un-drafted free agent, Cody Clay. We just keep stacking our depth!
3. Tony Romo has been healthy, but still managed his reps on the practice field. The "on one day" "off the next" routine the past few years has worked pretty well, so with a healthy Romo, why not keep that going?
4. Sean Lee, linebacker, may be back sooner than we thought? He has never played a full season without injury, so they're being cautious about bringing him into full contact practices. But, he will be back!
5. Lucky Whitehead, an un-drafted WR made his mark when Dez went out with his hamstring injury. Not sure what will happen with this kid, but it's always fun to see walk-on type guys get a shot at making their dreams come true!
Running Backs...
I have never been a fan of the Darren McFadden acquisition. It has not panned out like the Cowboys thought it would either; this is where they should have consulted me.
Joseph Randle is the current starting RB. McFadden starts practice on August 15th and Lance Dunbar, UNT alumni, just returned this week from an ankle sprain. He did well, but I still believe we will have a void with DeMarco Murray now in Philly.
The Cowboys ran the ball 49.6% of the time last year, with Murray. Taking the pressure off Romo is the key to the game. He is great at scrambling, but not on every play. He needs time. Yes, the O-line will buy him more time this year, but we still need a balanced offense.
Hall of Fame...
Charles Haley was inducted into the National Football Hall of Fame tonight, (visiting Canton is on my bucket list). He shared a pretty funny golf story and was as honest as he's always been. He was one of the greatest Defensive players to play the game and helped the Dallas Cowboys win 3 Super Bowls, 92, 93, 95.
Thank you, Charles!!

This weekend is Tax Free Weekend across 12 states!!
Is it really worth it?
Depends on how much you need to buy for you or your family!!
The best part is... most companies participate in Tax Free online! I'm not a fan of crowds or fighting mall traffic on these busy weekends, so online shopping is the route I typically go!
Here are a few retailers with great deals this weekend...
Dick's Sporting Goods
Academy
Old Navy/Gap
JCP
