Texas Rangers vs Yankees ~ Cowboys at Oxnard ~ Girl Meets World

GO RANGERS!!! 47-50
3rd in AL West - .485, 7.5 games behind LA Angels

The Home Run Derby... so it's been a while since I've written... and I just need y'all to know a few things...

1) I watched the Home Run Derby this year.
2) I enjoyed the head-to-head match up.
3) I do NOT like the time limit.
4) I found myself wanting the batter to hit fast, so he could get as many chances in, as opposed to oooing and awwwwing over each Home Run.
5) Because of the new rules, what Josh Hamilton did in 2008 will NEVER be done again. Maybe because it literally will never be done again, because no one is as Natural as he is (especially with meatballs being tossed up). Or, is it because these new rules will keep batters from enjoying each Home Run and just hitting for speed. Time will tell. But, for now, I will enjoy the youtube video of Hamilton hitting in Old Yankee Stadium.

Yankees vs. Rangers...

The Yankees are in town. Oh how I miss New York. Tonight is the first night of the series. I'm going tomorrow night and can't believe I missed seeing Marcus Luttrell throw out the first pitch tonight!!! Willie Robertson was also there, from Duck Dynasty. If you haven't read Lone Survivor, please go pick up a copy tomorrow and read it. If you saw the movie; it's not the same and leaves out a lot of the best parts. You will view our military differently after you read it and find yourself having even more respect for the men and women who serve our country with their lives, no matter the consequences.

Back to baseball... We are losing pretty badly to the Yankees. The Rangers jumped out with a 2 run lead, then Matty H. allowed 6 runs in 6 innings.

Rougned Odor has been keeping us alive from an Offensive perspective... He was named the Offensive Player of the week: batted .385, 9 runs scored, 3 home runs, 3 doubles, one triple, and 8 RBI over 6 days!

Yankees A-Rod (Alex Rodriguez), hit his 24th Home Run on his 40th birthday today. There's a long history with The Rangers and A-Rod. But it's late, and that won't give you sweet dreams. Another time maybe...

As for our pitching... one guy you've seen in mid-innings a lot is Tanner Scheppers. He was on a roll for a while, then had a rough few days. However; he leads our team as a relief pitcher with 11 Holds. (Hold: when a relief pitchers enters a game with his team in the lead, then hands off the ball to another pitcher without the score becoming tied or the other team taking the lead).

Latest on Derek Holland

Shawn Tolleson is okay after collision.

Hoping the game tomorrow is life changing. That is why we go to these things, right??? The chance to see greatness.

GO COWBOYS!!!

Oxnard is upon us. Garrett says "We Define Ourselves." I concur Jason, I concur.

More football after Yankees. I need to focus for tomorrow night's game. We're 7.5 back and if we want Fall ball this year, we need a big trade from the guy who threw a no-hitter this week... Cole Hamels. If we can edge out the Dodgers, we win!

Sorry, I know, I know, I took up Cowboys real estate with baseball talk. I'll evaluate the team soon; however, rest in the fact that this is the first off-season we have had a healthy QB in quite some time! Basically the equivalent to never running out of chips and salsa. Ever.

As for the circus surrounding Running Backs... still an issue in my mind. I'm not sold on any one guy replacing Murray, but I don't think they cared to replace him. #wearenotonthesamepage

Make sure to download the entire NFL schedule to your calendar. It is so much easier to have it on your phone. You know, so you don't accidentally accept brunch on Sunday or agree to a dinner on a Thursday when it's the Colts vs. New England, Seattle vs. San Francisco or worse... a Monday Night Football game. Monday's in general are out. If you need me, "I have plans."

Check out the Dallas Cowboys schedule here.

Random Info:
If you were born in the late 70's or early 80's... you remember a little show called Boy Meets World. Little, curly headed kid likes the "girl next door" with the wavy hair and the perfectionist outlook on life.

Unlike the numerous shows who try to make a comeback and don't succeed... this show has successfully created... Girl Meets World

I love this show!!!

Maybe this is because I have a niece and nephew now that are getting older and it helps me relate to them. But, I also love it because they've brought back a lot of the characters who were on Boy Meets World and they're all in their 30's... trying to figure it out. Makes me feel normal in a way - ha! Not that I need a TV show to define that for me, but it is a light-hearted and fun show! Has great values and morals it teaches kids... while watching the parents/teachers/friends learn along the way.

I give 5 stars to this show!! It is wholesome and your mind can relax while you're watching it! Refreshing in this day and age.

So, set your DVR's or watch it on Netflix or whatever you pay for. It's all too expensive if you ask me.

"Are you not entertained" ~ (Name that movie)

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
