Texas Rangers University Week ~ Mavs making deals ~ Shark Week

GO RANGERS!!! 41-41
3rd in AL West - .500

The Rangers were on a spectacular win streak. Now they've lost 10 of their last 14 games. Not good.

Chi Chi, the pitcher I was so excited about has been sent back down to Triple A. (There is a "farm system in baseball" - Majors, Triple-A (Round Rock Express), Double-A (Frisco Rough Riders), and lower Class-A, etc)

Our bullpen (where the pitchers hang-out, warm-up, etc), got worked by the Angels. Pretty embarrassing. Especially since C.J. Wilson is beating us pretty good right now. (C.J. used to pitch for the Rangers, seems like an interesting fella).

Good news... the All-Star break is coming up! Gives guys time to rest, take a mini-vacation and get their heads cleared before the second half of the season.

The Home Run Derby is on July 13th!! The best one is when Josh Hamilton hit 28 home runs in the last year of old Yankee Stadium.

GO COWBOYS!!!

As we get ready for the season... here's a fun slideshow from Dirk's Heroes Celebrity Baseball game... many Cowboys attended, including Dez Bryant. At least we know he'll play somewhere! :)

Get ready for training camp... end of July!!!

Check out the Dallas Cowboys schedule here.

GO MAVS!!!

Mark Cuban and team (Chandler Parsons) have been making deals!!! Yes, it's the off-season for basketball, but this is when deals are made and the scene begins to set for the 2015-2016 season!

Seems like Parsons has been using the "phone a friend" option to assist in luring free agents to Dallas! These guys will be great additions to our team! We need a bit more energy out there and a great supporting cast for Dirk's final years!

New Acquisitions...
1. Wesley Matthews - Shooting Guard
2. DeAndre Jordan - Center (replacing Tyson Chandler, and most likely a Franchise Player)
3. Jeremy Evans - dunk champion
4. Hoping to get Jeremy Lin from the Lakers

Monte Ellis and Tyson Chandler will not be with the Mavs next season. Super sad for Tyson Chandler. I was so excited to have him a second time. But I know, it's a business

Random Info:
It is officially Shark Week!! Set your DVR for the Discovery Channel every night and you'll never get in the ocean again!

I've only watched one show and it's crazy how close sharks get to the shore. They're just hanging out in 4 ft of water!! I love trying to surf and stand up paddle board, but may be doing that in a sand bottom lake from now on.

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
