Dallas Cowboys go 0-3 ~ Riding Boots for Fall

GO COWBOYS!!!

Well... we're 0-3 in the Pre-Season...

We have one last game before the regular season...
Thursday, Aug 28 - 7 PM vs the Denver Broncos (aka - Peyton Manning)

There are a few take aways from our pre-season loss to the Miami Dolphins last night.

#1 - Tony Romo (our QB - quarterback) can be hit. He had his second back surgery this past Summer and it's nice to know he's going to sacrifice his body for the team! Let's just hope we miraculously pull out a record better than 8-8 to make it worth it for ole Romo! (Side Note, Weeden didn't look too bad as our back-up QB.

#2 - We have a great punt returner in Dwayne Harris. Dude is entertaining, fast and drives the ball forward! Maybe we need him as a RB? Ha - just kidding! He is a WR for us as well... so the tricky part for most Coaching staffs is... use this guy as your punt returner for the potential of a "big play" - and hope he doesn't get hurt because we need him as a WR too! We need Harris to stay healthy all season!!

***FANTASY FOOTBALL ALERT***If your league gives points for special teams - you may want to select the Cowboys!***Also, here is a list of things you should know before you draft your team!

#3 - Bruce Carter... this dude struggled in our Defensive scheme last year... but, last night - we saw him block a punt against Miami! The punt didn't count, but that wasn't Carter's fault. Our new Defensive Coordinator, Rob Marinelli, plans to switch up how he uses Carter, so maybe we can get back to our expectations of this Tar Heel alumni

#4 - Dan Bailey is still Dan Bailey. Our kicker that is 90% accurate in his career! #legit

This is my favorite commercial on TV right now... thanks to J.J. Watt!!! "Do you wanna take a nap?" haha! Watch Now.

GO RANGERS!!!

Record... 50-79 (W-L)

Well, the Rangers are already planning their Winter vacations. We are 26.5 games behind the Oakland A's, who are in first place. So, the plan is... get through the next month of games. Take the family to a game (tickets are cheap), support the Rangers, and gear up for next year.

The team needs to focus on getting healthy and having some bonding time! The chemistry seems so off this year. I think it's because JD bought Prince Fielder and it's like the Bambino curse. But that's just me. I don't really believe in curses, but I don't believe in buying big name first baseman's either! :)

Random Info/Fashion Tips:
Ladies... Boot season is about to be upon us!

What? It's still 100 degrees outside! I know... I know... but if you start prepping your Fall wardrobe now... you won't be stressed going into the BEST season of the year!!

Most retailers will have their Fall assortments out this week. By the end of September, their full assortment will be available and they should still have most sizes!! :)

***LEATHER RIDING BOOT TIP*** I have a somewhat athletic build, which does not make it easy to fit into "knee high riding boots" - without cutting off the circulation in my legs! So... I decided years ago, to invest in real leather riding boots, the kind you slip on, no zipper. If you get these types of boots - you can take them to a cobbler or leather guy (if you live in the country - these guys still exist) - they have a "boot stretcher" that will work wonders on your boots! I left mine at a cobbler for two weeks and my boots slid on over jeans all Fall/Winter! So, if you have boots like this (remember, it only works on real leather and non-zipper boots) - you should take them to a cobbler now and you'll get them back by the time the temperature starts to drop!! :)

I know real leather is more expensive... but it's worth it! You can condition them with saddle soap and get the bottoms re-soled. So, they have the potential to last a good 5-7 years or longer if you take care of them!! Definitely worth the investment! :)

***Tip to fit jeans in boots***Once your jeans are on... put socks on that you can pull up over your jeans (or these knee highs that I love)... pinch the bottom of your skinny jeans - fold over flat against your ankle - take the sock/hose and pull it up over your jeans... then slide your boot on without worrying about tucking your jeans into the boot itself!***

Hug someone :)

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...
