SUPER BOWL!!!
The SUPER BOWL!!!!! What is the Super Bowl? Only the greatest event in Sports! Well, at least the greatest event in Football! Teams play 16 games in the regular season, then play their way through the Playoffs to get to the SUPER BOWL!!! (attending one is on my bucket list - I would react like this lady, along with the Pro-Bowl, but I just love Hawaii)
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS vs DENVER BRONCOS
February 2, 2014 ~ 5:30 PM in NYC
(this time is subject to change since the MetLife Stadium in NYC is outdoors and it's quite frigid across the country right now! Oh how I miss NYC!)
Seattle is a good team! Russell Wilson is their QB (he's also on our Texas Rangers baseball card... remember, I told y'all we own him). He's a young kid from the University of Wisconsin, that was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2012. Third round pick... playing in the SB! Their Offense will be a challenge for Denver because of their run game and Wilson's ability to manage the ball (aka - be a leader).
As for Peyton and the Denver Offense. They will have their work cut out for them going against Seattle's Rookie Defense. Their secondary has a lot of pride too (ahem... thoughts by Richard Sherman, you've seen him in the media... "mediocre")! They are ranked 1st in the league against the Pass and 7th against the Run. Good thing Denver has started to perfect both! We need a big game from Welker (WR) and Decker (WR), along with Demaryius Thomas (WR) and Knowshon Moreno (RB)! They got this! Seattle is young and has time to win again!
The Peyton Manning... he said he's not going to retire after this season... win or lose. I still hope he wins! He's not notorious for playing well in freezing cold temperatures (not sure anyone should be good at playing in that type of weather), but I am hoping he pulls it out! And for the sake of Champ Bailey... dude is 100 years old and needs a SB title to finish off his career! (This is his first SB appearance!)
Here'a a great article on both quarterbacks! And a cool video about a few Seahawks players. No matter the outcome... one team will be sad, the other will be elated! But that's life. A friend has a great day... life-changing for the good, your day, not so great... but that's why we have friends... that's why we keep living and encouraging one another... it is so worth it to know that there is the potential for greatness at any moment!
I can't wait to watch this game!! Although it's bittersweet. No more football until August, but that's why we have baseball and basketball! :)
GO COWBOYS!!!
What is Jerry Jones doing, you may ask yourself? Well to sum it all up, Jason Garrett is still our Coach, but not a puppet! We demoted our Offensive Coordinator and brought in a guy from the Detroit Lions... because they're so good?!?! (They only have an amazingly talented WR, Calvin Johnson) We're stuck with some of the players we have because of contracts... and Lord help us if Jones doesn't get rid of Miles Austin.
As of right now... next year looks 8-8. For a passionate fan like me, it's like telling me you may as well watch professional bowling all next Fall... doesn't get worse than that!
The one highlight of the off-season so far... our kicker, Dan Bailey, got a 6 year extension on his contract!!! Wohooo! Now my friend can go buy her jersey she's been wanting, with pride!
The Cowboys Draft countdown begins!
GO MAVS!!!

GO MAVS!!!
Mavs record is... 26-20, ranked 3rd in the Southwest, 7.5 games behind San Antonio!
~ Just get us to the All-Star break (it's in NOLA this year)! We are exhaustingly winning games! Our offense leaves it all on the court... too bad you can't have a separate defense like you do in football!
~ Since Devin Harris has been back (dude I mentioned last time), he's played 5 games with an average of 7.8 points and 3.2 assists. (assist - when one player passes or bounces the ball to the next player who scores) These stats aren't outstanding, but I do believe it's giving rest to players who may need it.
~ Our Owner, Mark Cuban... just read this short article... at least he's giving back!
~ Remember... go see a Game!! It's downtown at the AAC! Mavs Ticket Promotions

GO RANGERS!!!
~ Wow, a lot has happened as we approach Spring Training! Pitchers start practicing... without Derek Holland (remember, the dog incident)!Lance Berkman retired today, he only played one year for the Texas Rangers and will retire as a Houston Astro.
~ Oh, speaking of... our beloved Nolan Ryan met with the Houston Astros this week... for a job. Yup, our veteran pitcher, turned amazing President for the Rangers, is now back with the Astros. His sons work for them as well. But, it just annoys me. I'm still not okay that he left the Rangers, and no I'm not sure I would have wanted JD to leave either. It gets confusing... they should have just made it work, don't be a girl about it! Oh well... now that the Astro's are in the West and Nolan knows our system in-side and out... it should make for a more interesting season this year!

Random Info:
Super Bowl Parties... a perplexing event that occurs in many homes across the country, and possibly overseas.
I saw a recent article that says... only 49% of Americans are fans of Pro Football. Interesting. So you're telling me that 49% of the American population waits until the biggest game of the season, to bring the other 51% of Americans into our homes and "watch the game."
I think not. I don't care who is playing. It's still football. It should be watched and enjoyed with fans.
Being a female, it is even harder to attend a "Super Bowl Party," and not get sucked into conversations that are highly unimportant during the Super Bowl. (no offense to women or the conversations we have - Just saying, I like watching the game.)
I don't have kids or a family yet, so maybe that is a reason to have other families over and let the kids play while you watch the game? Or, just put them in bed at 5:30 PM, and tell them they'll understand when they're older.
I am all in for hanging out with friends, watching sporting events, movies, shooting pool... but if you're a good enough friend of a person who is a big enough sports fan... just respect their sports privacy a few times a year...
February (Super Bowl)
June (NBA Playoffs)
October/November (World Series).
That's all I(we) ask. (And I'm not even adding in NCAA events... you're welcome.)
**And yes, I ditched my good friend during the 2010 World Series games. She was in NYC, and I canceled my flight to stay in Texas and try to go to the games. I admit, it was a bit extreme, but I hope one day she understands... or just keeps being my friend despite my love for sports!**
