Dallas Cowboys 2014 Thoughts ~ MAVS ~ Rangers

GO COWBOYS!!!

The Dallas Cowboys... I have a theory for next season.

It is not extensive, nor is it thought out through every position. BUT! A few things have unfolded over the past week that could bode well for the Boys!

Tim Tebow (please tell me you know who he is?!?!), recently anchored on the ESPN broadcast for the spectacular BCS Championship game (college football). He was dead on with his analysis and his predictions! He has also been working with a former NFL Player, Trent Dilfer, and trying to get back to being an NFL QB. (just keep listening...)

Johnny Manziel (please tell me you know who he is?!?!), QB for Texas A&M football team... Johnny Football! He and Tebow are quite different off the field (from what I see on TV), but He has a great ability to play the QB position and decided today to enter the NFL Draft next year! (Remember, I love the NFL Draft! Went in '06, '07, '08 - good times!

Tony Romo, our QB, that I've talked about all season long! He has had two back surgeries in the past two years. Our team keeps them "hush, hush" and maybe they aren't a big deal, but... how fun would it be to have these three guys as the QB's for the Dallas Cowboys!?!?

Romo needs the passion that Tebow has for the game and life! It could rejuvenate him, and I'd love to have a young guy like Tebow as our back-up! Manziel definitely needs to be humbled a bit and learn from a veteran like Romo. (I've mentioned this before but Aaron Rodgers (QB for Green Bay) sat behind Brett Favre for 3 years, probably the best thing that happened to him!) Just sayin'!

Bad news... If Jerry would have let the Cowboys lose out (as we did anyway) and get a higher draft pick, we would actually have a chance at getting Manziel in the draft. He is predicted to go in the Top 10, and the Cowboys currently have the 16th pick in the 1st round. Jerry will have to work magic to get high enough to get him!

I also plan on proposing to Roger Goodell, the Commissioner of the NFL, that he should make a rule that prohibits Football Team Owners from simultaneously being the General Manager. That would force Jerry to give up his title as GM, and... probably give it to his son. (Every time I try to re-work that scenario, it ends the same)

NFL Playoffs are still going on... view schedule... the good thing is games are on Saturday and Sunday! :) The bad thing for some of you is, games are on Saturday and Sunday! Soak it up!!! We only have three weekends left of football!!! (tears)

I'm cheering for Brees and the Saints, Brady and New England, Carolina and their crazy Rookie Defense, and of course, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos!

As for the Cowboys... the Draft countdown begins!

GO MAVS!!!

Mavs record is... 20-16, ranked 3rd in the Southwest!

~ Dang... did you see the Mavs beat the Lakers??? Oh wait... did you see them lose to the Spurs tonight?? Okay, so that was a wash! Sad thing is - we really needed a win over the San Antonio Spurs! They are leading our division with a 28-8 record. The funny thing is - they never really talk about the Spurs on Sports Center (one of the greatest shows on TV), but they are always good... hats off to Popavich! (their head coach)

~ Dirk... dude is lights out! Still averaging 21.1 points per game and lead the Mavs to victory, single-handedly over the Lakers! His supporting cast is helpful with shooting, but not at all in defending! Marion is out with an injury, so we're relying on DeJauan Blair to post up and help us in the paint! (Do I have to explain that now? Not even sure it's a real saying, just throwing down some BBall terms... "post up" where the guy stands in front of the dude dribbling the ball, driving towards the basket and tries to get in his way without fowling him... ultimate goal... don't let him score!

Random Mavs Video... I saw this on Sports Center this morning... so dumb, but I'm sure the guys had fun making it! (Why do they call themselves the starting 5 and there are 6 guys in the video?!?! I'm confused...)

GO RANGERS!!!

~ The 2014 Hall of Fame class was chosen today! watch picks... Cooperstown is on my list of places to see before I die! Or maybe it was on my 2013 Calendar I had last year called... 1,000 places to see before I die... either way - I'd totally go!

~ What's so special about this year's Hall of Fame inductees? Greg Maddux, one if the recipients, is the Texas Rangers assistant to the General Manager.

Here are a few articles about his career...

Congrats from his brother and the Rangers GM

How Maddux impacted the Texas Rangers pitchers

Random Info:
~ Guess what is coming up??? The Lone Survivor movie I've harassed you about, why yes! But, also the Winter Olympics!!! We all get sucked into watching random events we would never watch daily on Fuel TV, and we love it!!

~ I'm pretty sure I'll be DVRing the Luging events, but I'll try to catch some of the snowboarding and skiing too! Man, makes me want to go skiing now... maybe next year!

For the full Winter Olympics schedule, click here!

And remember to bundle up... it's been freezing across the country! And pray for the homeless people! Or take them some sweatpants and a coat you don't need anymore! I am sure they would appreciate it!! :)

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

Rangers lose Game 1

GO RANGERS!!! Rangers lose to the Kansas City Royals, 2-1. Their pitching was spectacular. Our pitching wasn't too bad, but yet again, we couldn't hit against Santana! (that was KC's pitcher) The Rangers are 7 games behind Oakland to win the Division. Clearly we probably won't catch up to them, but we can still get a Wild Card spot if they ever start winning consistently!  Game 2 in KC is tomorrow night - Matt Garza is pitching for the Rangers!  Cheer Loudly!  GO COWBOYS!!! 12:00 PM - this Sunday - St. Louis Rams vs Dallas Cowboys.  Enjoy your family, friends and some football!!! :) "Day of Rest" Random Info: The two teams who have already secured a spot in the Playoffs are:  ~ Boston Red Sox (we used to have Mike Napoli  - he is a great Home Run hitter and now plays for Boston... his beard fits in perfectly there)  ~ LA Dodgers (We like their Manager - Don Mattingly  - he used to play for the NY Yankees back in the day!)  ...
