We have Live Sports

GOLF TODAY

Calling all golf fans or people who just want to see live sports!!!

Today, Sunday, May 17th, four PGA Tour Champions tee off at Seminole Golf Club in Florida!

Time: 1:00-5:00 PM CST

How to watch: Sadly from your home, but these channels will be showing it live: NBC, Golf Channel, NBCSN

Format: 18 holes skins match

Who is playing?

Well, it's a TaylorMade sponsored event, TaylorMade Driving Relief; therefore it requires all players to be sponsored by TaylorMade (the most I've ever written TaylorMade in a sentence).

Rory McIlroy & Dustin Johnson
vs.
Oklahoma State (go pokes)
Rickie Fowler & Matthew Wolff

You may think this is an unfair match-up, but Matthew Wolff doesn't think so, read along and check out these images below, from @PGATOUR on Twitter.

This dudes 5 iron goes as far as my driver. Not a big deal.

All money goes to a charity. I want DJ and Rory to win for the Nurses Association, but from a player standpoint, I want Fowler and Wolff to win.

Side note: These guys have to carry their own bags today. No Caddies. Crazy! That in an of itself will be fun to watch.

Watch this interview and all of your dreams will come true. Your sports dreams, that is.

I've watched that interview three times, just to hear the trash talk and the reminiscing. Yes, there is so much more to life than sports, but at the same time, it's so much fun to watch people compete.

Lefty (Phil) beat Tiger last year in a one on one match-up. This year they added teammates, who like most of us average golfers, are hoping to break 100. That may be my favorite part. These guys are just hoping to hit a fairway. Me too!

Announcers for the round: Justin Thomas and Charles Barkley. HAHA!! I can't wait!

NASCAR

We also have NASCAR today!! I am not going to pretend to know anything about that sport. I know the names because I hear them on Sports Center and they show up on my twitter feed sometimes.

But I do know that Ryan Newman is racing today. I'm sure the whole world, or at least the sports world saw his crash at Daytona in February that sent him to the hospital, thought for dead, and instead walked out on his own two days later. He describes the entire event as a miracle in this article.

The Darlington Cup Series
Time: 2:30 PM CST
Channel: FOX, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio

Ryan Newman is car #6.

The Last Dance

I'm only through episode 6, but it's taking me back. I was in middle school and high school when Jordan was Jordan. I remember my Uncle Guy helping out with the San Antonio Spurs for a while. He was able to get us tickets to see the Chicago Bulls play the Spurs in 1998. Just before the Spurs won the Championship in 1999. Our seats weren't close and our cameras weren't that good enough back then to get a good photo of him. But we were there and I guess I'm one of those kids who gets to say, "I watched Michael Jordan in person and in his last season with the Bulls."

It's funny because we all watched Rodman go from the Spurs to the Bulls, here in Texas. Seemed like a mess at the time, but it all worked out well for everyone! I can think of many players now that need that kind of "freedom" and "attention." It just doesn't always work out as well as it did for Rodman, ahem, AB.

Just think about how much social media and TV has changed the way we view greatness. Jordan's greatness was ALL basketball. He learned to lean on his teammates a little bit, but it was still all Jordan. This is totally fine, but now we expect elite pro athletes to give back, have great moral character, be activists, etc. I believe it's because we all know that what is going on in someones soul is more important than trophies on a wall. I'm not here to say it's not fun to watch guys like Jordan, because it is! It's Greatness! But even with all of his greatness, I still enjoy supporting the Benjamin Watson's and Drew Brees' of the world too.

Golf & NASCAR... it's just the beginning!

With all of the safety measures in place, we are just excited to see action! I'm not a huge fan of TV, so it's been a rough couple of months, from a "I'm thankful to be safe and have a home to live in" perspective.

However, it has been nice to sit and read a book, tend to the nine million plants I now own (it's become a problem). And workout more than I had did before.

If you're in need of indoor plants, these are my favorite! They're hard to kill and are aesthetically pleasing. I also recommend an aloe vera plant. They can be used for your nourishing your skin, healing burns, cuts, sunburns, etc.

I've also been able to play more golf with my family. That's been one of the best parts. Most courses in Texas stayed open, which helped a lot! Get some fresh air, vitamin D and human interaction. Things we all need and I hope now we're all getting!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
