Adrian Beltre ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Driving

GO RANGERS!!! 34-29 (wins ~ losses)
2nd in AL West

It's been a while.

How are you doing?

Tired of watching the NBA Playoffs? Hoping the Raptors can pull it out? Or did you bandwagon years ago with Golden State?

I've watched it here and there, but baseball has been interesting enough!

Who is our best player, aside from Elvis? It just may be Hunter Pence. Not because he plays the same amount of time as everyone else on the team, but because he's doing what Beltre did into his late 30's! He's having fun! And he leads our team in RBI's, 41.

When I see Hunter Pence coming into the game in the 7th inning, I get excited! Normally this is your rookie you're "testing out in a tough situation" or you're behind by 8 runs and you just throw another guy in to give your starters rest. Not with Pence. He's a threat every time he's in the game. Both in left field and at the plate. Here's his home run to break a 9-game streak without one

DeShields has also found his swing since coming back up from the minors. Not a place any tenured MLB player wants to go, so hopefully he can keep up the hits and earn a permanent spot on the team. In his last seven games, he's had 11 hits, 2 RBI's and a .458 batting average.

New guy? Kiner-Falefa has been placed on the 10 day IL with a sprained finger. To replace him, we got a guy with an equally as challenging name to pronounce from the Cleveland Indians, Federowicz. In his first game with us, he had 3 at bats, 1 HR, 3 RBI's. Welcome to Texas Federowicz! I will forever thing of Monster's Inc. when I say your name!

Joey Gallo is also on the IL (Injured List) with a strained oblique. Before this strain, he was on fire! He hit his first grand slam two weeks ago! I hope this fire comes back when he does!! We need it! (I assume he'll come back after the All-Star break, and this most likely means he won't be in the Home Run derby this year).

ALL-STAR GAME in Cleveland

Pitching. The last thing we haven't covered.

Y'all. Mike Minor is doing GREAT! He's 5th in the AL in ERA, 2.55, just behind Verlander. He should be a shoe in for the All-Star game!!

And maybe Adrian Sampson? This guy has had a rough start to the season, but his last 5 starts he has a 1.99 ERA, 30 K's, and only 3 walks in 31.2 IP (Innings Pitched). His game Saturday night, during the retirement of Adrian Beltre's number 29, he pitched a complete game! 109 pitches, 7 K's (strikeouts), allowed 4 hits and 1 run. Not to mention, he saved our bullpen from pitching and gave them rest going into a four game series vs. the Boston Red Sox!

ADRIAN BELTRE

They retired his number, 29, Saturday night and declared June 8th as Adrian Beltre day in the city of Arlington.

Check out this video of his speech

So many!! Dancing feet, one knee home runs, ridiculous plays at third... and here are a few .gifs from mlb.com and fox sport southwest, just for fun!

This brought up so many memories! Here are a few of my favorite pics. Most of them around the 3,000 hit mark! It was the week of my birthday, which is a tradition to go to a Rangers game on that day. So I went on July 28, 29 and 30th to see him hit 2,997, 2,998, 2,999 (on my birthday, 29th and his # is 29), then 3,000 on the 30th! How apropos.

Random Info...
Dallas Drivers.

Y'all. This may not be just a Texas thing, but I've noticed a few basic laws that are broken daily. And most likely are the reason many wrecks happen.

1. Texting and driving. Not joking here. It's ridiculous how many people think they can drive at 70 mph with their phone in their hand like they're on their couch at home. Wait for a stop light. #notokay #stopit

2. If you use GPS and don't know where you're going, preview the directions before hand. This may help prevent you from being in the FAR left lane and in 0.1 miles realizing you need to exit the highway, where you decide it makes sense to cut across four lanes of traffic at 70 mph and exit. If you aren't going to prepare properly, miss your exit and bust a U-turn, please. #notokay #thiscauseswrecks

3. Which brings me to my next point, U-turns. These are to be made where there is an indention in the road. Not just a break in a median. That is for other traffic to cross through. Not for you to halt the entire left lane and for you to illegally make a U-turn. #notokay #notaUturn

4. Same as drivers on the highway who think it's okay to go from the far left/right lane to the opposite... it's even more dangerous to do this at a stop light. I'm amazed at how many times this has happened in the past few years. The light turns green and the car in the far left lane peels-out and turns right, in front of all other four lanes and almost causes a wreck. Once again. Turn left, if you're in the left lane. Make a proper U-turn - then you're going right, the proper way. Without causing a wreck. :) #stayinyourlane #thankyou

Is this a lecture? No. Is it a few tips to be mindful of? Yes. If you're not the one doing these things, please be aware. Driving in Dallas has become much more of a defensive game lately! Survival of the aware!!

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
