NFL Draft
The NFL Draft is THIS WEEK, in DALLAS!
The bad news is... you had to win an online lottery to get tickets to the draft. I feel like you should have a chance to purchase them. I get that the lottery is cool, but now they've made it virtually impossible to go to the Draft unless you buy resell tickets on Stub Hub for $600. No thank you.
In the past, when I went in NYC, you could line up the day before the Daft out side of Radio City Music Hall, back when it was only Saturday and Sunday, and get a ticket that way. You were on the street for a long time, but it was worth it! And you could have bagels delivered to you in line for breakfast the next day. I did the same thing with a friend when we stood in line for Jimmy Fallon tickets. #brilliant
There will be places for Fans to go that aren't able to attend the draft inside the stadium. Here is a full list of NFL Draft events.
I'm sad that we all don't get to go to the Draft because it really is one of the coolest experiences of my life! It's not the same watching it on TV... but we will watch anyway... because we're Cowboys fans.
How does the NFL Draft Work?
NFL Teams are choosing from College Football players that have gone through a lot of physical and mental tests to get to this point.
Here's a list of available players and the ones who will probably go in the 1st round. It's the most coveted place to be picked, except for Tom Brady, who was a 6th round draft pick. You never know...
There are seven rounds, broken up between three days, and 256 picks made.
Not all picks are equal.
You get picks based on a few requirements:
1. Record from the previous season and sometimes strength of schedule, if it comes down to that. If you had a poor record, you will get a higher draft pick. That means they have pity on you and think you need better players to be more successful the following year.
2. Compensatory Free Agent picks. This is confusing to me, but basically - the NFL Management Council can award up to 32 picks between the end of the third through seventh round to teams who have lost players due to Free Agency (they left to play for another team).
3. If you traded picks from previous years. Say the Dallas Cowboys wanted Tom Brady. (Fully aware this is not reality). They would have to "trade" for him and give up a lot of money, plus draft picks. Think of it like a person who gambles, they thrown in their cash and then if the stakes get higher, they throw in their watch or car keys... both of which are ridiculous and I do not encourage.
What Players do the Cowboys need?
A lot of them.
WR ~ Our most prominent position available would be the position Dez Bryant previously held. Wide Receiver. We also released Brice Butler, who is now playing for the Arizona Cardinals. Our current WR roster is made up of: Terrance Williams, Allen Hurns, Cole Beasley, Ryan Switzer, Lance Lenoir, KD Cannon, Noah Brown, Deonte Thompson. Do any of those name sound familiar? Probably the first three or four. Well, according to Stephen Jones on 105.3 The Fan, we're going with more WR's instead of having a Superstar like Dez. I'm okay with this. I know Dez could make big plays, and I'm thankful he did. He represented #88 well. I'm just excited to see if spreading the ball more helps Dak as QB?
Dez played 113 games with the Cowboys over the past 8 years. He caught the ball 58% of the time and scored 73 Touchdowns (TD's). His best years were 2012, 2013, 2014, having 12 or more TD's each season. In 2015 he had 3 TD's, 2016, 8 TD's, and 2017, 6 TD's with a 52% pass completion rating. He was injured in 2015, then Romo was injured and Dak stepped in. All around, I think it's best for Dez to play somewhere else. It's worked out for guys in the past, it will work out for him too! Check out Emmitt's comments on it all. You may have forgotten that he played his last two seasons in Arizona to get the NFL rushing record!
TE ~ We know that Jason Witten won't be playing forever. We need his replacement this year so he can learn from the best!
Defense ~ Everything. Especially a Defensive Tackle.
Here's a list of picks we have... as long as we don't trade picks to get a player from another team. You see, that's the fun part, teams have their list of picks - then they get crazy and start dealing behind the scenes and us, as fans, watch it all unfold.
GO RANGERS!!! 8-15 (wins - losses)

GO RANGERS!!! 8-15 (wins - losses)
Bartolo Colon, our 44 year old pitcher has been the spotlight of our team for a few weeks. He almost pitched a perfect game, and then he out-runs Dee Gordon Saturday night in our loss vs. the Seattle Mariners. Watch the clip.
We've only won 3 games at home this season, and today was one of those days!
I won't go through all of the details... but Martin Perez got us through four innings well, then the 5th inning got dicey, as usual. We kept the game 4-5 through the 7th, then the Rangers turned it on and got 2 more runs in the 8th with a hit by Kiner-Falefa. HELLO WIN COLUMN... Rangers won 4-7.
Fun facts about today's game...
1. It was Deshields first game back from his wrist injury! He had a ridiculous play in Center Field... watch this.
2. Joey Gallo tried to bunt, but it went foul. I loved it!!! Except they hit him on the pitch immediately following. At least he got on base, and scored.
3. I know it's nice having Odor and Andrus on our team, but having Profar, Robinson, and Kiner-Falefa in the game, there seems to be new life there! They're young and still learning, but today it was fun to watch!
4. Adrian Beltre. Dude is so fun to watch. At 3rd base or at the plate... dude messes with the other players, in a respectful way, and hustles!! He gives 100% every game, usually with a smile on his face. I need to be more like that at work!
5. Kela. Matt Bush and our other relievers didn't have their best stuff today - but Kela did. He got us out of the inning and the W secured. Nice job, Sir!
Since Spring seems like a figment of our imagination, I encourage you to go to a game! The weather has been perfect! And it's our last two years in our beautiful outdoor stadium. Soon we'll be in hamster land with a stadium bubble. I'm not a fan of the new indoor stadium. I understand greed and wanting to sell seats in August, but it's part of it. No kid grew up playing baseball in a dome. The smell of fresh cut grass is essential to the fresh air and the spectacular flyovers during the Post-Season. If we ever get there again.
I'm done. Nothing to be solved here. Just enjoy the game!
p.s. My dad says the Dilly Dog is awesome!
The Rangers also scored 7 Runs... Monday is 50% off Papa Johns Pizza with the code Rangers7.

I was working with a friend last week... and as we were discussing a situation... she said "The more I know, the more I don't know."
We keep joking about how brilliant that was.
But if you really think about it... The more you know... The more you don't know. Which means, none of us should be bored.
None of us should be okay doing the same thing every day and never challenging ourselves.
None of us should allow the TV to define our lives or make us want to "check out" all of the time.
None of us should settle for being mediocre at our jobs or our friendships or within our families.
Don't worry about what others think... be great. Be passionate. Go above and beyond. Take classes you never thought you'd take. Read books that seem way out of your comfort zone (not creepy stuff, but good books).
Try to sing more often.
Listen to classical music more often.
Go outside more often.
Learn to play the instrument you've always wanted to play.
You may discover something about yourself you never knew. Or, you may discover that life is just worth living, so live it to its fullest!
