Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36 (wins - losses)

Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!

Well, only 5 other guys can and have.

This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.

His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation. Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.

Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the "Three J's" - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. (Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funny Cowboy commercial about them).

Then came along Dirk. 1998. Don Nelson brought Dirk to Dallas. Joining Michael Finley, Steve Nash and Shawn Bradley, Dirk quickly became a star.

We have had a lot of great talent come in and out of Dallas that has surrounded Dirk and made him better. But the nucleus has always been Dirk. That has never changed. When you have a great foundation, why mess with it?

So with all of the changes Mark Cuban has made that I haven't agreed with... I'm glad he never totally messed up and got rid of Dirk.

Here's the list of the 5 players ahead of Dirk, and their total points in the NBA. None of these players are currently in the league.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 38,287 points
Karl Malone 36,928 points
Kobe Bryant 33,643
Michael Jordan 32,292
Wilt Chamberlain 31,419

Here's a quick video of Dirk's accomplishments and here's a link of players tweets and their congrats to Dirk.

Go to a game. I know we may not "win it all" this year, but it is still fun to support our team!

GO MAVS!!

GO RANGERS!!!

Now through March 22... watch the World Baseball Classic. It's mainly on the MLB network, so for those of you with Spectrum, you'd have to spend your life savings to get this channel. Or, you can follow along on Twitter, click here. :)

Also, there are talks about Colby Lewis coming back to the Rangers. He was a starting Pitcher for us. Here's a quick article, more to come.

GO COWBOYS!!!

Whoa... can the trade deadline slow it's roll?

I'm in the office Thursday and Friday, trying to get work done, and my ESPN alerts on my phone are going off every 5 minutes.

Let's start with what "hasn't" happened...

Tony Romo is still a Dallas Cowboy.

I do not know any details. My name is not Adam Schefter (the most popular NFL analyst and the first guy to know details about players). But what I do know is that I wish Tony would stay in Dallas.

I know, I know what you're thinking... why?

Well, as much as I know he wants to be a starting QB, and I don't blame him, we still need depth in the QB slot. We all know too well how quickly players become injured, and you're on your second and then third string QB. I do not wish for Dak Prescott to get injured, but it is a scenario you have to be prepared for.

If Romo must leave Dallas... I've heard many people talk about trading him instead of allowing him to become a free agent. Him becoming a free agent does not mean that the Cowboys get any benefit, aka, Draft Picks.

Players are dealt like cards during free agency...

If we're playing blackjack... The Ace may be 11 points (your QB in a trade), but you still need 10 more points to get to 21 = draft picks. Get to 10 however you'd like, one draft pick worth 10, two draft picks worth 7 and 3, just get to the value of 10 and we have a deal.

I believe Jerry Jones wants Tony to go where he wants to go and where he would like to play.

I WILL be upset if he goes to Denver where Ronald Leary just went (4 year deal for $35M). A vital piece from our Cowboys Offensive Line. Tony under center, DeMarcus Ware on Defense and the slew of other great players they have on the Broncos roster. Not a team I want to see in the playoffs.

FOX network also wants Romo as an analyst to replace John Lynch, who went to be the GM for the 49ers.

Dude has options.

What "has" happened...

1) Terrance Williams & Brice Butler agreed to stay on as Wide Receivers. I'm fine with this. Dak threw to them a lot last year, and we need WR options.

2) David Irving stayed on as a Defensive Tackle!!!! Build around this guy!! Give him whatever he wants! :)

3) Jack Crawford, Defensive Tackle, went to Atlanta. 3-year deal with the Falcons.

4) Terrell McClain, Defensive Tackle, went to Washington. 4-year deal with the Redskins.

5) Barry Church, Safety, went to Jacksonville. 4-year deal with the Jaguars.

Notice a theme here? Our defense has left the building. Which means, Stephen Jones and team better work some magic in the next couple of days. And have the best draft ever!

April 27-29 is the 2017 NFL Draft.

Sadly, it is in Philly this year. I will not attend. #neveraneaglesfan

Random Info:
Would you ever want to ski on the Continental Divide?

Of course you would!

There are still two months left of skiing! Everyone got more snow this year than the past 10 years combined (total exaggeration, but it is what it feels like).

If you're headed to Colorado already or find a cheap flight... rent a car... drive West on I-70 and you're there in less than an hour.

Loveland Ski Resort

One of the tallest ski ranges in Colorado, 13,010 feet.

My sister and I went last week... so much fun!! They have 9 lifts, which is pretty decent for a smaller mountain. The price for an all-day lift ticket is only $71 and $53 from 10:30 AM - 4 PM. Can't beat that!!

No lines anywhere! And they have a 2 mile run from the top of the mountain all the way to the base.

I always recommend going on a school day, if you can, but I bet weekends here are still enjoyable.

Here are a few photos to entice you to go... happy skiing!! Or snowboarding!!

POSTSEASON BASEBALL: Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers ~ Baseball Etiquette ~ Dallas Cowboys Over-reaction Tuesday

GO RANGERS !!! ALDS PLAYOFFS - THIS THURSDAY It's official... we are playing the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.  Dang it.  I can't stand the Blue Jays. They have trashy fans. No, literally, they throw trash on the field .  And Jose Bautista is a punk. No one needs your bat flippin' drama!  And we all remember this... Odor punching Bautista earlier this year. Watch . All the sports people are going to have a field day over this. I bet they wish they had given us the evening time slots now! Except that Toronto's TV ratings don't count, eh?  How we win... stay focused. Eliminate the drama. We beat them during the regular season. We can do it again. No hitting batters, no one getting ejected. We need our entire roster in the ALCS. We need to play Texas Ranger baseball. Period. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Games 1 and 2 are this Thursday at 3:30 PM and Friday at Noon in Arlington, TX. Games 3 and 4 are Sunday and Monday in Toronto. ...

Week 12: Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys ~ Staubach's Final Game vs. Redskins ~ Be Thankful

GO COWBOYS!!! 9-1 1st in the NFL  (I've died and gone to Heaven) 1st in the NFC EAST Thursday, November 24th Washington Redskins vs. Dallas Cowboys  (home team is second) 3:30 PM CST on FOX Full of hope, I predicted last week that the Cowboys would beat the Ravens by 11 points. We won by 10.  Y'all, this is better than I could have ever hoped for... in my football fan life. We went up against the #1 Defense in the league, threw up 97 rushing yards from Zeke and 301 passing yards by Dak. What? Who are we? So much fun!  THANKSGIVING DAY RIVALRY...  Before you get all tired off Tryptophan ... make sure to  check out this link and read about the NFL history on Thanksgiving Day . The two most consistent teams to play are the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions.  The Washington Redskins... our NFC East Division Rival. We have played the Redskins twice a year since 1961.  That is a long time!  T...

Over-reaction Monday Week 14 ~ MAVS ~ Rangers

GO COWBOYS!!! Week 14 Matchup: Dallas Cowboys vs. Chicago Bears... Who Won? Da Bears! BIG! 28-45 No one was hibernating tonight at Soldier Field. The Bears came to play in some frigid temperatures! 7 degrees... feels like -4... dagger!  ~ McCown (Chicago's back-up QB) - after tonight - I'm more afraid of him then most active QB's in the league. He has lethal weapons in Brandon Marshall (WR), Alshon Jeffery (WR) and Matt Forte (RB). They scored on EVERY possession! (except an onside kick) 5 TD's!! They played so well - they were cocky enough to go for two points instead of going for the extra point after their TD at 33 pts. That is bold. In your face to the Cowboys Defense. Wow. This one hurts.  ~ Dallas. Our Offense had a run game going in the beginning. Chicago is horrible against the run, but we didn't even maximize on it! DeMarco Murray (our RB) had 145 yards and no TD's . Romo threw for 3 TD's to 3 different receivers! That's a cool stat... if...
