GO RANGERS!!! 39-25
1st in AL West
1st in AL
Y'all... we are 1st in the American League and 3rd in all of MLB!!! What? Without Nelly, without Hamilton, without Yu, without Fielder (except the last few games), without Choo... yup. This team, no matter who is on it, finds a scrappy way to win, and have fun doing it!
Newbies...
Mazara has gone lights out. Many are saying he's on his way to be the Rookie of the Year. He is leading our team and three major stat categories:
10 HR's (home runs)
.313 AVG (batting average)
.363 OBP (on base percentage)
The only two stats he isn't winning in, Ian Desmond, our acquired player this off-season, who converted from an infielder to an outfielder, is leading our team with 42 RBI's and 76 Hits.
Pitchers...
Cole Hamels has over 2k strikeouts! He is the 77th player in history to accomplish this record and the 7th active pitcher to do so. **Can you name the other six?** Hamels has 81 K's this season alone, and it's only June!!
ERA 3.14
6W-1L
As of today, it appears that the Rangers signed another Cole... Cole Ragans. This is our 2016 Draft Pick who seems to admire our veteran Cole. Read on.
Closers...
We've got Dyson. He's a pretty good closer. Especially for being the lowest paid pitcher on the team. 10 saves this season. However, when I was at the game the other day, I couldn't help but think how much I miss Joe Nathan. No, he wasn't the best, but he had great warm-up music and had a presence about him that made you think he could intimidate the other team. He definitely allowed too many players on base, but would somehow pull off the Win.
That's the only thing missing in my mind... the intimidating factor. We did get Odor back, so maybe we make people afraid from second base?
Injuries...
~ Yu Darvish. As of Monday, he is on the 15 day DL with shoulder soreness. He is frustrated, the Rangers are frustrated, and I am frustrated.
~ Hamilton is out out. Like for the season with ACL surgery.
~ Beltre has hamstring soreness, but with Profar playing every infield position possible, there's not rush for Beltre to come back. If Prince Fielder can keep hitting like he is... that helps also in the DH slot.
~ Choo, dude is back after having calf and hamstring injuries, but Ryan Rua and Ian Desmond are doing so well in the outfield, Choo may not play every game.
~ Robinson Chironos, Catcher, is back in the line-up. All of our guys are coming back!!
We have so much depth at every position now, it's unreal. Jon Daniels was on Ben and Skin two weeks ago talking about how after the MLB Draft, he expects calls for his young players. He said they would be willing to talk for more pitching. We'll see what happens. It's so hard not to get attached.
I think I'm okay with them dealing Yu Darvish. They paid him a lot of money, but he can't seem to get healthy.
Also, I predict Mitch Moreland is traded and we continue to watch these young guys find their place on the permanent roster.

NBA
The NBA Finals are still going on.
Yes, the Warriors are tired.
Yes, LeBron James is still calling himself a king.
Yes, Stephen Curry can still shoot a ton of 3's, and guard LeBron.
Yes, Klay Thompson just might be a better 3 point shooter than Curry.
Yes, Draymond Green has personal space issues.
No, the Cavs won't win the series.
As tired, injured and worn out as the Warriors are. I think they win it in Cleveland, Game 6 (Thursday night, 8PM CST). Get it done.
"The Big 3?"
What is the Big 3? Why do they talk about it on every show? Mike and Mike. Sports Center. TNT. Talk Radio.
Not every team has a Big 3. Why do media and announcers force it for teams that don't have it or don't need it?
The "Big 3" I remember was when Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce went to Boston to "win a championship." Which they did. 2008. "Anything is possible."
Then you had LeBron, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh go to Miami to do the same thing. To "get their championship(s)."
Now what? There doesn't always have to be a Big 3!
They've dubbed Curry and Thompson the "Splash Brothers." But even still, they'll lump Green in there to get a "Big 3" for the Warriors. Try having a Big ENTIRE BENCH!
If you go way back, you could lump Jordan, Pippen and Rodman together. But even still, there were other great dudes on that 1996 Bulls team.
For you Mavs fans, back in the day, we had the 3 J's! Ha! Jimmy Jackson, Jason Kidd and Jamal Mashburn. Good ole days!
No real point here. Maybe people just like the #3. It is used a lot in society and in history.
Just stating the fact that this terminology is getting old in the basketball realm. Dudes leaving teams and joining with their buddies is getting old. Just win. Play good basketball and Win!
DIRK'S HEROES
I was fortunate enough to attend the Dirk Nowitzki Heroes Baseball game this past Friday night in Dr Pepper park, where the Frisco Roughriders play.
Here is more about the foundation... read on.
It was such a fun game!! Half of the Dallas Cowboys were there (and yes, McFadden waits until after he played baseball to injure himself at home and be out for 2 months), Jordan Spieth was there, along with a lot of former Rangers, including the great David Murphy!!
I'm still so sad he retired. He had one of my favorite walk-up songs!!
Here is the roster and a few photos from the event... If you can make it out next year, it's worth it!
p.s. Tyrone Crawford, Dallas Cowboys DT, is legit. That dude played 1B, 3B and right field. He had an in-the-park home run and almost had another home run, but it was snagged by, none other than, David Murphy in center field.
