Dallas Cowboys Extra Point ~ Texas Rangers Offense (yes, I said Offense) ~ Are you Homeless?

GO RANGERS!!! 27-25
3rd in AL West

Party in Texas!!! We beat the Chicago White Sox 15-2!!! The best part is... this is a home game!! We beat the Red Sox at home last week (3 out of 4 games) and are starting off this series right! No more "only win on the road."

What has happened to us?? Did we get a new batting coach? Nope, we just got pitching. It is amazing what good pitching will do for your Offense. Isn't pitching a Defensive role? Not from a momentum standpoint.

Story time...

A pitcher holds the other team to no hits/runs. Then, the hitters get up to bat and want to put runs on the board to take a little pressure off the pitcher. So, they get 2 runs on the board.

Then, the pitcher says, "Thanks guys," and goes out and holds the other team to no runs scored again! The hitters think, "Awesome, let's get more runs, even though we're already winning!"

So, they get 4 runs because DeShields hits a solo home run, then Choo and Moreland get on base with Gallo up to bat (new kid on the block)... FIREWORKS... The Natural theme song plays... three run home run!! As Gallo trots around the bases. (You can replace Gallo with Hamilton too, since he is The Natural. He's just not in the line-up tonight, so I used the new guy).

     And they win the Pennant!!!

     The End.

What a great story!!

Colby Lewis is on killing it. 46 Strikeouts with a 4.70 ERA (earned runs average - by the opposing team). Not the best ERA, Nick Martinez has the best with 2.03, but Colby is still making an impact!

Everyone is a hitter these days!! I can't even pick a guy anymore!!! It's like what? Who are these kids??? I LOVE IT!!!!!! I can't wait to go to my next game!!!

The new kid, Joey Gallo, came up from Triple A and Double A at the Roughriders for a bit. He is replacing the injured Adrian Beltre, but the way he's entered the scene tonight... it will be hard to send this kid back down to the minors. Adrian... take a while to heal, let's see what this kid can do!

Get your tickets here and take the family to a game!! The weather is still nice in the evenings... and the rain may be done for a while? Only one can hope!

GO COWBOYS!!!

Cowboy baby... With the top let back and the sunshine shining...

That's about all I know of that song. Just thought of it because I used to wakeboard to it (one summer, long ago) and the sun was out today, which was enjoyable!

Running Backs

Rumors... rumors... rumors. Not a thing I love. But, it's all we have for the current Running Back situation in Dallas. Adrian Peterson is staying in Minnesota, so that door is shut. This article states that The Boys are looking to try out Chris Johnson, Felix Jones (former Cowboy), and Ben Tate. These dudes would all be 3rd string behind McFadden and Randle. Which is kind of scary. Not shaping up to be the DeMarco Murray replacements I would pick, but it's June 2nd. We have time.

Extra Point

They (the NFL) has changed the Extra Point rule. It used to be that you would kick an extra point after a touchdown from the 2-yard line, now it is from the 15-yard line. Add in the end zone and you have a 33-yard field goal for 1 point after a 6 point Touchdown. Many people think that the attempt for 2 point conversions will increase, as it is staying at the 2-yard line. Only time will tell, but if you have Dan Bailey as a kicker, you aren't too worried! This dude is perfect, 179-179 extra points under the old rule! He is 38-40 in his career from 30-39 yards. I think we're good. Thanks Dan.

Only two months left until official training camp!!

Check out the Dallas Cowboys schedule here.

Random Info:
Are you homeless?

Have you ever seen a homeless person?

Have you ever felt homeless?

What is being homeless?

I bet a lot of us have a stereotype about homeless people. How they got there? Why don't they have a job or go get one? What drug were they on that put them there? Some of these stigma's are true, I'm not denying that. Some are relevant and unavoidable. Some aren't... homelessness comes in all forms and circumstances.

Two Defensive Ends from the St. Louis Rams, Chris Long and William Hayes, wanted to see, first hand, what being homeless was like. Read this story and watch the short video. There is more to every person than just what you see on the outside.

One of my favorite moments in NYC was one night while riding the 6 train to the UES (Upper East Side). It was at the 42nd street stop, Grand Central, when a homeless man got on the train, sat right next to me (while every other bench was open except one), and laid his head on my shoulder. An array of emotions ran through my head....

What if he robs me? He smells so bad, I can't breath. How long is he going to stay here? Then... I bet he is really tired. He may just need a friend? How blessed am I that he picked me to rest his head on my shoulder?

The MTA announcer says "Next Stop, 86th Street." I tap the man on his shoulder and tell him it is my stop. He said thank you, and I left. Tears. All the way to 88th and York. He is a life. He has a soul. He just needed a moment. And that moment changed me.

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
