Dallas Mavs ~ Rangers Spring Training ~ NFL ~ Fashion News

GO MAVS!!! 38-20

Just one day after Amar'e Stoudemire made his Dallas Mavs debut .. we're iced-in in Dallas!

At first, I wasn't fully convinced we needed Amar'e. He's 32 years old, played 12 years in the league, with multiple knee injuries and is quite past his prime (sound like a German stud you may know). Cuban acquired him from the New York Knicks and signed him to a one year deal for $487k to back-up Tyson Chandler.

The Mavs are on a 2 game win streak with a big win over Houston on Friday night and a win with Amar'e last night over the Charlotte Hornets. Monte Ellis had 23 points in the game and 15 of those came in the 4th Qtr.

The one nice thing to see with Stoudemire is dunking! Tyson Chandler and Chandler Parsons dunk, but it's not something you see from The Big German (except with his little exhibition in the All-Star game with Stephan Curry - watch). All in all, welcome Amar'e to the team!

We're in the second half of the season and only two months out from Playoffs!!

**It was just reported that Rajon Rondo is working with Shooting Coach, Holger Geschwindener, a mentor to the great Dirk Nowitzki. This is wonderful news, it's like Charles Barkely getting help with his golf swing, only golf wasn't his professional sport!**

In other basketball news... we are nearing the NCAA Tournament, aka... March Madness!!! :) More to come! Get your brackets ready!!

GO RANGERS!!!

Pitchers and Catchers have already reported to Spring Training this week in Surprise, AZ!!

Ahhh, if I close my eyes, I can already smell the fresh cut grass. We are 8 weeks away from Opening Day!!

A few things to know...

1) We just extended Adrian Beltre's contract through 2016! Jon Daniels baked in the option to extend an extra year, so they did. 1 Point for the Rangers Management.
2) I already told you they traded Robbie Ross and Alexi Ogondo to the Boston Red Sox, right? Robbie Ross was a left-handed pitcher. Those aren't easy to come by, so we'll see what Daniels does before the season starts to beef up our rotation.
3) Comeback Pitchers: Matt Harrison, Derek Holland, Yu Darvish, Neftali Feliz and Martin Perez. These kids are all at training camp and are gearing up for the season. We can't have as many injuries as we did last year, it just can't happen.
4) We've lost Jurickson Profar for the entire 2015 season. He's the young guy who replaced Ian Kinsler at 2nd base. Karma that he's injured now? I don't believe in karma. I think it's just part of behind human and playing a sport at a high level. He had a shoulder tear last September and chose to rehab instead of have surgery. Now, he has to have surgery, which will most likely get him back in time for us to make a World Series Run. :) Like how I spun that? Jon Daniels defends him in this article

GO COWBOYS!!!

The NFL Combine was this past week. Yes, you can classify me as a total nerd for watching most of it. But seriously, how fun to see these college kids come out and make a name for themselves!! These are the kids who "walk-on" essentially, into the NFL! A few are highly scouted and sought after, but not all.

You have to watch this kid from UConn, Byron Jones, which you typically know for their basketball program, but he broke the broad jump record and had a 44.5 inch vertical jump!! Crazienss! To have ups like that? This kid is super athletic and will be a huge asset to any team! Come on Jerry... pick this kid up in Round 2, you share a last name and should share a Super Bowl Ring! #Cowboys2015

Only 9 weeks until the NFL Draft. And you thought football was over. Muwahahah! :)

Random Info:
Ladies and Gentleman... it is now time in the world of Fashion to purchase anything you need on sale for Winter NEXT YEAR.

Yes, that may seem a bit silly, but Swimwear and the first Spring delivery will hit retail floors the end of February. Crazy, you say? That is retail, it's crazy. People go on cruises, take random vacations, or live in Florida, so they start Spring in February or the first week of March.

Now, don't go crazy, trends are bound to change a small bit by next year, but if you need new sweaters or basics that you can wear for the next three years and want to get it at a great price, shop now! Then, wait until the end of March to buy Spring product. By then, most of the first set will start going on sale and the items you really want and are willing to pay full price for will be arriving!

It's all a mind game, so best of luck! Remember, don't buy it if you don't love it! There's no reason to waste money on things you "think you need."

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Dallas Mavs ~ Texas Rangers ~ Thoughts on the Super Bowl ~ Dallas is Freezing

Dallas  Mavericks 13-14 (wins-losses) I feel like we've been on a rollercoaster with the Mavs, but I like the direction we're going now. As for how NBA and NFL players feel about our cold weather... that's a funnier story. The Mavs longest stretch of losses was six games in mid-January. It was not fun and the team looked confused as to why they couldn't pull out a win.  A few guys have been out, off and on, due to illness or injury, but now they're all back and are rolling. Especially Kristaps Porzingis .  They keep joking that he's playing how he did back in September 2020 when they were in the NBA bubble, before his knee injury. Now that he has healed and is playing more minutes per game, he has been on fire! To see a 7'3" guy drain 3 pointers like he does is amazing. I mean, if he raises his arms, they're already above the rim, so he just has to put the right arc on it and swish. So cool!  His stats vs. the Pelicans in Friday night's victory:...

The Masters, in all its beauty ~ Texas Rangers ~ Dallas Mavs ~ Get Outside

The Masters The ultimate Bucket List item and one of the ones that exceeded my expectations. If you play golf, have a family member who makes you watch golf or take naps to golf, you understand that The Masters is the holy grail of golf tournaments. It is the only PGA tournament that is played in the same location every year, Augusta, Georgia.  Thanks to very dear friends of mine, I had the chance to walk through the azaleas, experience the serenity of Amen Corner and watch the players skip golf balls across the water at Hole 16. If they allowed people to sleep on the grass, I would have stayed forever.  We were there for two days of practice rounds, which is fun because the players are relaxed and cut up with one another. They cancelled the Par 3 Contest, which was sad, but just being there was the most wonderful feeling ever. You can't take phones in, so I even called my parents from the phones at Augusta, just to do so. We also didn't realize you could bring in a real camer...
