Looking back... Looking ahead ~ Mavs ~ Rangers ~ Cowboys ~ Shine Your Way

Looking back... Looking ahead...

So, it's been a while since I've blogged about Sports...

~ The Super Bowl Happened, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos won!
~ Von Miller was the MVP of the Super Bowl and is probably going to be the highest paid defensive player in 2016!
~ DeMarcus Ware now has a Championship Ring, with the Broncos, clearly not with the Cowboys.
~ Peyton Manning retired. #18 played 18 years... and went out with 2 Super Bowl Championships and a slew of accolades. Nice job, Sir!
~ The Dallas Stars are still 1st in the Western Conference and 2nd in the NHL, even though they've only won 4 out of their last 10 games. They WILL make the playoffs!! (odds are in their favor)
~ It's officially Golf Season and The Master's is coming up on April 7-10 on CBS
~ MARCH MADNESS is upon us!! Today is Selection Sunday!! Get your brackets ready... to be destroyed!!! This is the one event I am just plain terrible at picking. I may try the trick of picking the uniform colors I like best. ha! Not very sporty of me or scientific, but none of it is! Best of luck!

GO MAVS!!! 33-33

We're 8th in the Western Conference. Not that good anymore... with only a month left to play and on the heels of a 5 game losing streak.

Dirk is still putting up great numbers, averaging 18.2 points per game, but the rest of the team needs to get in sync. (no, not the boy band... bye bye bye).

When you're batting .500 and the playoffs are approaching... you have to have a players only meeting or something to motivate you past the point of mediocrity.

Let's face it, no one is going to beat the Warriors... except a random LA win for Kobe's last year... so the rest of us are playing against each other!

If you get to make it to a game... I suggest this Friday night, vs. Golden State!!! Your last chance to see Steph Curry play in Dallas for 2016... unless the playoffs come here!

GO RANGERS!!!
SPRING-TRANING

We're only two weeks into Spring Training and so much has already happened...

1. We acquired Ian Desmond, free agent, played shortstop for the Washington Nationals. He is going to play Left Field for the Rangers to replace Josh Hamilton while he's on the IR (injured reserve)... more knee issues, but still the highest paid player on the Texas Rangers.
2. Joey Gallo can hit home runs over 400 feet! And hits cars. Watch.
3. Yu Darvish should return in May from Tommy John surgery. Finally.
4. Jurickson Profar (another prodigy we have been waiting to see play a full season) is doing great in Spring Training... but it remains to be seen if he'll be named to the Rangers starting roster.

If you want to keep up with The Rangers is Surprise Arizona... here's the full schedule

Opening Day is... April 4th... 3:05 PM vs. the Seattle Mariners. Tickets are sold out, so you'll either have to watch on TV or stubhub it! Or SeatGeek... that's a great site too!

GO COWBOYS!!!
OFF-SEASON

The NFL draft is on April 28-30 in Chicago, IL. (If it goes back to NYC... I'll be there)!

Here is the latest Mock Draft and who has the Dallas Cowboys picking which players. I've said for the past two years I want Ezekiel Elliott... but I agree we need Defensive Ends too... soooo yeah. Let's get D-Ware back from Denver?!?! :) Kidding - he already signed his deal.

More to come...

Dirk Nowitzki ~ Dallas Cowboys Free Agency ~ Texas Rangers ~ Selection Sunday ~ Loveland, CO

GO MAVS!!! 27-36  (wins - losses) Dirk, Dirk, he's our man... if he can't do it... no one can!!!  Well, only 5 other guys can and have.  Dirk is now 6th on the all time list of NBA players to score 30,000 points . This is a crazy accomplishment. He's played over 1,300 games in his 19 year career with the Dallas Mavericks.  His commitment to this team and to our city has been life changing for many. He does a lot in our community through the Dirk's Heroes Foundation . Fundraising and giving grants to non-profits in our community and around the world that are making an impact in the lives of children and families in need.  Back in the day, the Mavs games were fun to watch with the " Three J's " - but we didn't win a lot, and we never thought we would make it to the playoffs consistently, much less to the NBA Finals. ( Three J's: Jimmy Jackson, Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd - here's a funn...

Over-reaction Monday Week 8

GO COWBOYS!!! Cowboys lose to the Detroit Lions... 30-31 This game was a bit crazy. If you ever wanted to know about football, all it entails and how crazy people are for watching it and loving it... this a great game to watch!  Bottom line...  ~ Detroit Defense - they did a great job stopping our offense. Passing and running. They held Tony Romo (our QB) to 206 yards, which 110 of those were on 2 TD passes. And they held Joseph Randal (our RB) to 14 carries for 26 yards. ( aka... not good ) Ndamukong Suh - Defensive Tackle for the Lions, is a crazy man. Literally. He had his D ready today.  ~ Matthew Stafford - Detroit's QB that is from Highland Park, played for UGA. He played well... The kid threw for 488 yards and had a very sneaky TD at the end of the game to win it for the Lions. Detroit's Offense completed 29 1st downs vs. Dallas' 13 1st downs. ( there are 4 downs in football... which means you have 4 chances to get the ball 10 yards, running or ...

Over-reaction Monday Week 9 ~ MAVS

GO COWBOYS!!! Dallas beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-27! Yaya! We are now 5-4 (Wins -Losses) ! Whew. If you've watched most of the games this season, or any season - you'll know that almost all of them come down to the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's just part of sports.  Here are the few "over-reaction" stats you'll need for tomorrow...  ~ Adrian Peterson ( Vikings RB ) - He did what he always does. Run over the defense. He is from TX and had over 80+ fans at the game cheering for him. He also lost his son a few weeks ago to a tragic accident. He looked like he was playing with more heart today than in the past few weeks, but our D held them overall. He did have a spectacular TD run... he is an amazing athlete!  ~ Tony Romo (our QB) - threw the ball 51 times. That is a lot! He only completed 34 of those passes. What does that mean? Well, it means he did well with what he has. He spread the ball between all WR ( Wide Receiver ) options, had ...
